Worship
The best way to see what we’re all about is to worship with us on a Sunday. We know it’s not always easy visiting a new church, so the questions below are aimed to help make your visit as accessible as possible.

  1. What time do you start?
Our service begins at 4 PM. We try our best to begin on time, but we are better at being personable than being prompt. Our services typically last about 75 minutes.

  2. Where should I park?
There is a small parking lot at Little Church that we reserve for visitors, those with special needs, and families with young children. Overflow parking is available at Chase Bank right across the street, and street parking is also available on Moravian Lane.

  3. What should I wear?
Most people dress casual at Apostles, but feel free to wear whatever makes you most comfortable. Our pastors wear clerical collars, which is a way to fight against the personality-driven church. It takes the focus off of their distinctive personalities, and on to their common pastoral office as servants of Christ and stewards of his divine mysteries.

  4. What do you offer for kids?
Children are always invited to worship with us throughout the whole service. We welcome the noises that make their presence known among us. There is also a cry room in the back of the sanctuary that has audio from the service if you need to make use of it at any time. If parents desire, we also offer a staffed nursery for children 0-4 for the duration of the service, though some parents prefer to retrieve their children during the passing of the peace (Anglican meet and greet time) before communion so that they can be a part of the family meal. For children ages 5-10, we offer tote bags in the entry way with coloring activities to help them stay occupied and engaged during the service. Any of our greeters will help you find what you need for your children.

  5. What should I expect in the worship service?
As Anglicans, we follow a vibrant liturgical tradition with origins from the earliest centuries of Christian worship. The liturgy invites your participation throughout with equal emphasis on God’s Word, Sacrament, and Spirit. We are welcomed into God’s presence and we believe He is truly among as he promised to be when the church gathers for worship. Our music is a blend of God-honoring hymns both ancient and modern. We read passages from all of God’s Word, and hear a sermon from them, usually about 20-25 minutes long. We confess our faith in the words of the ancient creeds. We pray for each other, the church, and the world. We confess our sins and are refreshed in God’s forgiveness, and we commune with God and each other at the Table every week, before being sent back out to love and serve the world.

A sample of a recent bulletin can be found HERE. We encourage you to look it over with special attention to the notes in the margins that explain why we do what we do. And we encourage you to attend several weeks in a row so that our rhythms become more familiar to you. When it comes to some of the traditions of Anglican worship (bowing, making the sign of the cross, etc.), our rule is “all can, some will, none must.”

Fellowship Groups
After worship, the most important thing we do is gather in smaller groups in homes throughout the city during the week for Christian community. This is where relationships can go deeper around shared tables and shares lives in the kingdom of God. To inquire about available groups in your area, please contact our parish administrator.

Life Together
We are a church that loves to do life together, whether it’s planned events like Second Sunday dinners or more organic get togethers, whether special services like our annual Lessons & Carols or opportunities to serve our neighbors in the city.
